Check your DNS settings on the network interface.

What is the output of: head /usr/sbin/omv-mkaptidx
-
head: cannot open '/usr/sbin/omv-mkaptidx' for reading: No such file or directory

I have changed to google dns 8.8.8.8 and no change. same if i give it router ip
if i ping 8.8.8.8, works fine
if i ping http://www.google.com it give me name or service not known
-
Changed it where? What does the rest of the network config look like?

Admittedly don’t have a ton of experience with Linux or OMV. But here’s what I find. If I use DHCP then I have no problem connecting to either ip address or name of site. When I change to static ip, using the same exact configuration that was being used under dhcp then I only get ping response from ip, not name. I prefer to have a static ip so that I am assured that the server ip will not change. Any idea why when set to static, using the same network configuration that was set while using dhcp, that I am having trouble updating plugins or connecting through named host?
Appreciate any ideas on what I may be doing wrong.

Post a screenshot of your network interface configuration.

In my router I can select that a certain device gets always the same IP. So the server is configured with dhcp, but gets assigned always the same IP from the router.
Maybe your router has this feature as well.

Here is the settings after editing to static:

We can't see the dns section which is very important when having dns issues.

The screenshot you posted is of a DHCP configuration. The DNS server part is also missing.

Don't know how to find that. I used
and it gave me 127.0.0.53 whether static or dhcp. Is there another command to to see more detailed info?
I was able to set my router to assign ip to my server so that might be the best way to handle it. Just trying to learn why having problems when i configure adapter to fixed. Curiosity more than anything now.

OK so that helped. I assumed you were referring to advanced settings. All spaces were blank, so i set the dns servers to 8.8.8.8 and that solved the problem. Appreciate the help...

I guess I should have said that in post #2. I'm glad it's resolved.
