Can you please boot in recovery mode and see if you have screen until the end.
Also update your kernel to 3,16 with omv/extras

What is he using to install OMV? and yeah on having only the system drive connected whenever installing OMV.

The installation media shouldn't really matter, as it seems everything is getting installed properly, because the machine is booting completely
When I had this problem before, it was when my 15in CRT went out, and since I don't use a display that often for my NAS, I simply switched to using the VGA port on my 48in TV. Doing the changes I described above, resolved the problem for me... and one would think most certainly a clean install would fix the issue.

I did not read all the psots and was wondering if he did usb stick install that went awry.
-
I have used the cd version to install from. Have also now tried the recovery mode, and it shows some text, and then black screen again. Have also installed the latest extras, and set the latest as boot kernel.
And the result is the same, few lines with text and then black screen!

How many seconds after grub roughly ? 8-12 seconds?
-
Yes, ca 5-6 seconds

Take a look here
http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/842Se if after power on you can edit the grub boot line for Linux and append one of the parameters described there. If it works will see later how to make it permanently.
-
Now tried that but not helping.
The latest I see when booting is: failed to setup IBS
-
Then I would suggest a clean install from debian wheezy minimal and install in top of that omv.
-
But I have install this version several times the latest days. Tried both cd Version of the 1.0.20 i386 and the 1.0.20 amd64.
The Whole story started when I upgraded 0.5.60 to 1.0.20 remotely. Everything looks great, but when I went to the omv to look at the screen it was black. I then thought that the motherboard was broken, so bought a whole new computer and installed the omv 1.0.20 from cd on it. But the screen is black as described, before I upgraded the Version everything was ok on the screen.
Looks for me that maybee there is something wrong With this Version, would it soon be a 1.6 iso version available??
-
Omv versions won't fix video issues. The 1.0.20 iso is out if phase compared to wheezy. Download the latest wheezy and see how it goes. I don't know when it will be a 1.6 iso. I know is being asked to the developer to push and updated iso.
-
It may be that 1.0.20 (better, the wheezy version used in that iso) uses a defaukt resolution after boot which your monitor doesn't support.

David -
ok, then I just have to wait for a newer Version and hope it will be fixed
-
Omv install on top of wheezy is 3-4 cli steps
Is not clear when the next iso is gonna be build and release.
But if you can live without a screen I guess is fine.
-
Is it possible to get a description how to install wheezy and omv on top??
-
Install minimal Debian Wheezy (uncheck all options) using netinst image. Then:
-
Thanks, thanks, thanks!!!! This work, now I have text on the screen, not only black screen!!
Just one question; if I won't to Upgrade from 0.5.60 to 1.6 on a another omv I have, will the following order be correct??
1. Unplug raid disks
2. Install and Upgrade like in your last post
3. Plug in the raid disksWill the raid, filesystem and shared folders be Automatic recognized??
-
Yup. Or you could try if the upgrading process works fine on that system.
You just have to share the shared folders again. The data will still be there.
Greetings
David
