your board MSI H81M-E33 use Realtek RTL8111G please google a bit about problems for this NIC, perhaps to buy a PCIe NIC is a better idea.

these issues are all with old kernels, do they still exist in recent LTS kernel 5.15?
https://www.pclinuxos.com/foru…obuc7vg3icbkq5#msg1340040 might be relevant

not sure, but realtek have a really bad history.
It's possible for you test a PCIe card with other NIC to check stability?

well bugs are in every software, therefore investing to buy new hardware (with other bugs) would only be my last resort and only after the actual root cause can be 100% confirmed to be related to this hardware and driver
Hi, little update.
I had a multiple blackouts today. Now my nas is unreachable.
I noticed a mistake i made: i have a 8 port switch in my network with DHCP enabled, now i disabled it because i want to leave it to my router.
Maybe this was the culprit for the "sudden" losts.
but now i can't reach my nas in any way.... what can i try?
Unable to mount root fs.. I'd say there's very likely an issue with your root drive.
If it's an internal drive (ie, sata drive, SSD, etc.) check your connections, try replacing the data cable, if you have an emppty port try changing to another port.
If it's a flash drive.. it's probably toast. Maybe try a different USB port
If it's an external USB drive... again check your connections inside the enclosure, check the cables are connected well.. If the external has a power supply, could be the power supply is going bad or maybe the USB cable has gone bad.
Switched to an old kernel, it booted!
Did an update and now i'm on kernel 5.16
It seem fully operational, at least as the last time it worked.
I think soon it will be useful to install OMV6 from scratch and make a little drives upgrade.
But for now i hope it works!!

I'm kinda surprised that worked.. I would still strongly consider an OS drive upgrade (especially if it is something a little on the old side)
I agree, it is most likely, a bad drive. Maybe you had luck and the data for the other kernel was not on a bad sector.

Os drive is a 32GB Usb drive from Sandisk.
So, when i'll decide to perform a new install i'll buy a new Flash Drive and a bigger HDD for media.

You should consider a UPS first, not a bigger drive or a different USB stick.

I totally missed that
I guess i should start thinking about a fresh install of OMV. It's really unstable.
For example, at the moment i can reach the qbittorrent service. It's seeding without issues, but i can't login via webUI nor via SSH.
I can reach the login page, but when i click to log in it refresh the page asking for user/password.
SSH:connection timed out
Shared discs unavailable
Is possible to avoid to force the shutdown to reset it?
I absolutely don't know how to check for errors...

Symptom of full os disk.
SSH:connection timed out
ssh -vvv <user>@<ip_of_omv> from the commadn line (windows has ssh nowadays)

ssh -vvv <user>@<ip_of_omv> from the commadn line (windows has ssh nowadays)
The disk is barely used.... maybe is dying?
How can i check the free space?
Ssh gives me errors.. thank by the way
Wrong password... my bad
df -h will show free disk space.

UPDATE: My system no longer boots. It shows only a blinking underscore.
I have some spares SSDs, so i decided to upgrade to a 120GB SSD and a fresh install. I hope this time it'll last longer.
Now i have to watch "tons" of videos on how to configure OMV6.... a new "adventure" begins i guess.
For sure i'll need a help from you guys. (OMV scares me a little....)
