If you have a similar view, move down the cursor until you reach the bottom.
Then enter: nameserver 1.0.0.1
then press "Ctrl + x"
that is: Ctrl button and x button at the same time.
then press "y" to save the file

When I go into nano again the file is:
nano /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 1.0.0.1
Is that name correct?

Roger, will do.

I used nano /etc/resolv.conf from OMV CLI, upon entering nano all I have is a cursor blinking at the top of the page.
I added the following below to the cursor line:
nano /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 1.0.0.1
Wrong.
You do not put this into the file:
nano /etc/resolv.conf
Just put this in:
nameserver 1.0.0.1

Thanks to you both for your patience and perserverance...
I guess this means it worked
Only concern I have is the line that says W: Possible missing firmware... near the bottom.
Other question(s) I would have is what can be done to avoid this issue going forward and secondly why does the install hang on IPv6? Is it my ISP's Router that is too slow to respond?
Thanks again for your support and attention!

There is some problem, and I ran into it myself, that is causing OMV to erase the /etc/resolv.conf file which breaks things. I haven't had it come up in a while, but when it did the solution was always to just create a valid /etc/resolv.conf file using an editor. A reboot isn't required.
In apt output W: is warning, and most can be ignored.

Well done. Enjoy OMV.

Have a look at the New User Guide which is linked in my signature, if you have not done already. It will explain, among other things, how to access your server using ssh. By this you can copy+paste info from CLI to the forum.
-
Thanks to you both,
Before I disappear and return to quiz you both another day, can you point me in the general direction for how to download that update log from the system? rather than taking a picture?
Thanks again.

Just checked, it's not Friday 13th!

Startup without the disks and then mount them again, no issue.

Is that fixed now?
If not startup without disks. Then run update-grub. After that shut down, add the disk and boot. Should work then.

Hi Macom,
I will try that today and get back to you, thanks for the support.

Worked like a dream, thank you.
