I'm new to everything NAS haven't used one ever, currently I have all my drives in two towers connected to 1 motherboard and I'm managing everything on Windows 10. I would like to start using a NAS for storage (Files are going to be modified/deleted/created constantly on some drives), I was thinking on using OMV specifically because I read on reddit that NTFS drives can be used but that was 6 years ago. Is this currently still possible? All my 12 HDD are full (and I mean that literally, they have between 10 to 40 GB free) so I can't currently move files to another drive and format to something else than NTFS and then move files back, is not possible for me to do this right now so I need to use the drives as they are. I have spare parts that I can use to build the NAS so there are no problems there.
I've just installed OMV on VMWare so I'm very new to this, I haven't tried yet connecting any HDD to the VM out of fear something can happen, backups exists but I prefer to avoid restoring.
In a nutshell: Is it possible to use NTFS drives without formatting and losing any data?
