Need help with USB Backup

Hi,

I am looking to setup USB backup for my OMV5 with USB backup plugin (assuming this is the best option available). While I will have the external USB drive pluggest in to my NAS all the time, I want to configure it such that the backup job runs on Sunday which involved following steps:

1. Mount the USB HDD

2. Run backup job (NAS to HDD)

3. RSync OS to a seperate partition on the same external HDD.

4. Eject / Dismount HDD once the jobs are complete and notify via email. (I am assuming at step 4 the HDD will be safe to be physically unplugged ? )

Can someone help with the best way to go about this ? I have the plugin installed but not sure about the auto mount/dismount.

The plugin does not work if the drive is permanently connected. If that is the case use a rsync job for example.

I've just started using USB backup plugin to create a full backup of my NAS and just wanted to ask if the plugin is using rsync as underlaying technology?

The reason I asked is that the backup has been going on for last 4 days running 24x7 and I am just trying to figure out if this is because its my first backup or will be bahave the same way everytime I run the backup.
