OMV painfully slow.

  • Hi there,

I'm not really sure where to start but OMV is just painfully slow for me. I have been using it to run Nextcloud using Docker and its been great for months on end but now it's slowed down so much that its virtually unuseable. It doesn't seem to be syncing with the desktop client anymore.

This evening I thought I'd have a look at things and the web GIU for OMV is also very slow - sometimes it won't even load, just ending up with a blank white screen that I need to refresh to get anywhere.

I keep Nextcloud up-to-date using the command line and I update OMV using the web GUI. Everything is installed on a Dell PowerEdge R310 server. Everything is up-to-date, so far as I am aware.

Looking at the OMV system logs, I'm getting this repeated over and over:

    Jul 26 00:00:08 omvpeR310 monit[3145]: Filesystem '/srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433' not mounted

    Jul 26 00:00:08 omvpeR310 monit[3145]: 'filesystem_srv_dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433' unable to read filesystem '/srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433' state

    Jul 26 00:00:08 omvpeR310 monit[3145]: 'filesystem_srv_dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433' trying to restart

    Jul 26 00:00:08 omvpeR310 monit[3145]: 'mountpoint_srv_dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433' status failed (1) -- /srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433 is not a mountpoint

I have three disks in the server:

    dev-disk-by-uuid-10ea8d36-b524-4e24-b461-6f04f4cd4581 (128GB SSD, OMV)

The other two are the data disk and a backup disk (a mirrored copy of the data disk)

    dev-disk-by-uuid-234ddefe-df8d-4d5e-91f9-8b0375a0d13f

    dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433

So, I am guessing there's a problem with the backup disk here. Am I on the right track here and does anybody have any advice for me?

    Thanks,

    Nick.

    Solved?

If not, can you remove /srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-b8cef6d8-7c8f-47a1-91fc-5d21853bd433?

You would have to remove all shared folders pointing at that filesystem from any service and the remove the shared folders.

After the filesystem has been removed, you can check if performance is back to normal.

If it is, we would have to find out what the issue with this filesystem is.

  • Sorry for the very, very late reply.

In the end it seemed to fix itself, seems to be running normally now and has been for some time.

Hope you guys enjoy the holiday period!

    Ta,

    Nick.

P.S. Thank you, macom for marking resolved. I always forget!!
