Hi I am using 4.1.23-1 (Arrakis) on my WDMYCLOUD with data on the drive with shares. I was wondering if it can be upgraded with ease to OMV6 or is it not possible?
I don't want to lose any data already on the drive.
Regards
Andrew

The road is long and you will probably encounter some difficulty.
OMV4 to OMV5 upgrade
Check that everything is ok (potentially solve problems).
OMV5 to OMV6

If you have OMV on a separate drive I would unplug the data drive and do a fresh install. Then mount the data disk, you will not lose the data.
OMV4 to 5 is rough. There are update scripts
OMV5 to 6 is much smoother. You basically can run omv-release-upgrade after removing all plugins that have not been ported to OMV6.
As chente suggest, a fresh install might be the route to take
Thanks macom , I couldn't find that link to upgrade from 4 to 5.
andrewgbailey , a couple more things.
If you decide to update, in step 5 to 6 remember to remove the plugins that have not been ported to OMV6, here is the list. omv-extras plugins - porting progress to OMV 6.x (done)
If you decide to do a fresh install, when you mount the data disk DO NOT format it, just mount it in the OMV interface.
Thankyou for taking the time to answer me guys. I think I am just going to do a fresh install it sounds a lot less hassle. Cheers
Hi guys I have tried a fresh install but it wont work! I am not entirely sure I am following the correct procedure. Which version do I need to put on a usb stick to install it on a My Cloud Home 3TB? I installed the Arrakis version without any problems. Does the USB drive need to be formatted in a certain way? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Andrew
I am not entirely sure I am following the correct procedure
For a My Cloud Home 3TB best approach is on https://openmediavault.readthe…e/installation/index.html follow Installation variant "Debian Operating System"
