We might finally have a real (no usb) RPi4 (compute module) NAS solution soon!

FYI: I had asked them the following questions:
1) Would a size change of PCB to match with ITX mounting hole be feasible?
2) If not, will some adapter for mounting be feasible to sell as an accessory?
3) Would a backplate for ITX cases be an feasible to sell as an optional accessory?
And got the answers:
Thanks for the feedback and an interesting idea.
We have applied for the Crowdsupply campaign and getting ready to bring the board to public.
We tend to make things as compact as possible therefore it is not likely we will match any of the ITX case variants. However, the idea of an adapter is pretty much feasible.
There are certain things to consider here, e.g. a heatsink which has not been finalized yet.
We are also designing a custom enclosure to match the compact footprint of the board.
I cannot promise any date for the ITX related work but I will put it on our roadmap.
We will post a Github project this week to collect more feedback on features/accessories.
ordering 1 for sure, im just wondering how is the power supply for a 3.5*4hhd NAS solution.
Even a 12V is not enough for 2.5*4 i assume.

The voltage needs to be 12V or higher but 12V will work fine. My helios64 has a 12v 10A power brick and handles five 3.5" drives just fine. Granted, it does have staggered startup and capacitors in the power cables going to the drives.

make sense,bro

All about the amperage.. It would be nice if there was some way to power this w/ an atx power supply (this would be perfect for a pico power supply).

cut the connector off and put a switch on two wires. That is all it takes. I used to power fix sbc boards from one atx PSU.
Do you have a link to this switch? While I'm confident I can do it, not sure what you are referencing

It can be any on/off switch. I happen to use this one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod…_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This page has good diagrams - https://www.electronics-tutori…-psu-to-bench-supply.html

Type C is going to struggle with four 3.5" hard drives unless they have some staggered startup tech on the board.
I would go for the 12v. too. That is how I have my NanoPi M4/sata hat set up. Except for the size- 2x the size of the rpi4 itself- I would throw rocks at my NanoPi. Still, it will make a good nas if it delivered on its promises.
Hey everyone
Is there a Version for the the regular Pi4?
I want to try them out for the first time with an USB SSD and an USB HDD.
Is there a Version for the the regular Pi4?
Thx look good tomorrow I will try it. But where do I add my Proxy?
THX
(EDIT: Does a 8GB Ram have a benefit over an 4GB? Maybe use the Ram as Ramdisk or so for caching?!)
But where do I add my Proxy
I haven't use a proxy for years
Does a 8GB Ram have a benefit over an 4GB
Nope, there is a 64 bit beta version of the Raspberry Pi OS, some have used that on the 4 and 8GB versions
Tomorrow hopefully I have time to do can you recommend a way to add them?
Without I cant download it.

I'm sorry I don't know what you mean
I need to add a Proxy Server to Download the Files from the Internet.
